Overcomer!

“You can’t be an overcomer if you have nothing to overcome.” My grandfather said this earlier in the week at the funeral of my aunt’s mother-in-law. ⁣

Ms. Mary was certainly an overcomer. Many stood up and spoke about how even when she had the right to complain about difficult life circumstances, she didn’t. Even when she was hurt by others and had the right to turn a cold-shoulder, she served happily instead. She overcame, and now I’m sure she’s received the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who persevere under trial, stand the test, and love Him. (James 1:12) ⁣

In more than one way recently God has convicted me for how much I’m complaining about having to work hard, persevere, and overcome. I asked my grandfather recently how my grandmother raised 4 children and built an international organization at the same 👏🏽time👏🏽…he exclaimed, “She did it by not complaining about it as much as YOU!!” 😫😂Ouch. lol⁣ But he was right!

When God allows hardship in our lives or even blesses us with so much that the work of persevering through growth makes us weary, THIS is when we have the opportunity to prove ourselves as overcomers. I’m not sure if it counts as “overcoming” if I’m huffing, puffing, and complaining about everything. ⁣

We overcome by believing and acting on the truth that if nothing is too hard for God, through Him, nothing can be too hard for us. (Luke 1:37) Whether you’re overcoming hardship or like me, overcoming the spirit of complaint about the hard work which accompanies growth, drop a 💪🏽 if you’re ready to believe and act on what God says about those who overcome!⁣

Revelation 3:21 MSG “Conquerors will sit alongside me at the head table, just as I, having conquered, took the place of honor at the side of my Father. That’s my gift to the conquerors!”
