Let Him Help

Yesterday, Ellie was desperately trying to get her shoes on. It was a disaster. They were on the wrong feet, the Velcro was going every which way, and she would get upset and throw the shoe in frustration. Inevitably, she’d go pick it up and try again. Every time I offered her help, she would scream, “NO, I DO IT!”

It was hilarious at the time. I kept thinking, “If only she’d let me help her this wouldn’t take so long or be so hard. I know exactly how to get her through this.” Then it hit me like a bag of bricks. I do this to God all the time. I tell Him “NO, I CAN DO IT!” Not realizing that I’m acting like a toddler desperately trying to fit into mismatched shoes. “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all of your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13

All we have to do is seek him. That’s it. Just like Ellie, all she had to do was ask for help and I would‘ve been there in a heart beat. Don’t play yourself. Seek him, because you are a toddler in the eyes of God, stressed out over tying shoes when the creator of the universe is waiting in the wings for you to seek Him out for help.
