Don't Slow Down

Earlier this week my mom and I started a #couchto5k so we can participate in the Jingle bell run this year! My first day at it started off really well. I had a ton of energy and my form was impeccable. 💁🏽‍♀️ 15 minutes in, my whole body started itching.lol If you’ve ever been out of shape, you know exactly what I’m talking about. I suddenly felt drained, irritated, and uncomfortable. I’d hit a wall, after 15 minutes 🤦🏽‍♀️.

Every time the voice on the app said “start running” I felt the urge to resist, to walk or slow down. But I knew that if I walked when it said to run, my body wouldn’t learn. My muscles benefited most, when they were uncomfortable. Being uncomfortable meant I was being made better.

In our relationship with Christ and our spiritual walk with Him, consistency during periods of discomfort is what growth is made of. Don’t slow down when God is calling you to run forward towards the prize. When your situation feels unbearable, don’t worry, it isn’t. Hardship (or in my case exercise) is specifically designed to grow our spiritual muscles in order to make us stronger and better. Keep the pace.

Psalm 119:1-2 1 You're blessed when you stay on course, walking steadily on the road revealed by God. 2 You're blessed when you follow his directions, doing your best to find him.
